About Flolinga
Flolinga is a project created by me, Alfonso Martinez, built on over 17 years of experience teaching English to students from all walks of life.
But the heart of this project goes beyond the classroom.
I grew up in a bilingual household in Los Angeles, California, with parents from Mexico who always spoke to me in Spanish. I witnessed firsthand what it’s like to learn English as a second language—how my parents navigated it, how they used it differently from native speakers, and how they made it their own.
Our dinner table was a blend of cultures and languages:
I’d speak Spanish with my parents, English with my sisters, and often switch back and forth without even thinking. This kind of fluid, real-world language exchange shaped the way I understand communication—and it’s the foundation of what I bring to Flolinga.
What Flolinga Is (and Isn’t)
Flolinga isn’t about chasing grammar perfection.
It’s about building confidence in speaking, in real conversations, on topics that matter.
Once a student has a solid foundation in the basics, the fastest and most meaningful improvement comes through speaking—naturally, organically, and even in challenging situations.
My Philosophy
I believe that perfect English isn’t about saying everything correctly—it’s about communicating your message clearly.
You don’t need to sound like a native speaker to be effective.
In fact, most English conversations in today’s world happen between non-native speakers, and those often run more smoothly without native speakers present.
The key isn’t flawless grammar—it’s understanding and being understood.
